Westfield launches connected commerce accelerator

Westfield Labs has unveiled the 10 companies selected for its new Connected Commerce Accelerator intended to “reimagine the future of retail.” The program is in partnership with the agency R/GA.

Ten startup companies will be invited to R/GA’s San Francisco offices to pitch inventors and industry leaders across the retail, commerce and technology industries, according to a statement. There will also be roundtable discussions with program partners and advisors “to discuss cutting-edge innovations and share forward-looking research, creating a multidimensional conversation defining the future of commerce and helping to identify potential market opportunities.”

They will also receive input and collaborate with program partners including Macy’s, Shopify Plus, Bank of America Merchant Services, Verizon and Walmart.

Participants include companies focused on developing delivery services, artificial intelligence solutions to create better search technology, visual recognition, logistics platforms, customer service and in-store technology.

The Connected Commerce Accelerator will run from August to October. Westfield Labs has been actively testing new technology to enhance the shopping experience and showcased its “mall of the future” at ShopTalk in Las Vegas this May.
